International LWL Children and Family Festival becomes sustainable

First preliminary meeting for the LWL Children and Family Festival // Registrations by 1.3.2023 at integration(at)bocholt(dot)de //

"EUpdate - Living and Learning in Europe" is the motto of the European Union's Europe Weeks 2023. And the LWL's big children's and family festival will also be involved. Last week, representatives of the local cultural associations met with the organisers, the Landschaftsverband Westfalen Lippe, the Integration Council, the Integration Office, the Mayor's Office and the EuropeDirect Office of the Bocholt Municipality.

"After we didn't know for a long time last year whether and in what form we would be able and allowed to hold the LWL Children's and Family Festival, we are glad this year that we have a little "more breathing space" in the planning together with the associations and organisations," said Museum Director Hermann-Josef Stenkamp at the welcome.

"The participation is super, so that we can show how colourful Bocholt really is in the ninth edition," added Bruno Wansing, Integration Officer of the City of Bocholt. He at the integration office receives the registrations via the email address integration(at)bocholt(dot)de.

In addition to the clubs and organisations, the city administration as a trainer and employer and the fire brigade will also present themselves on site. The district of Borken is also expected to present its Smart Region concept.

Sustainable family festival

There will also be innovations in the area of "sustainability". "In order to completely avoid waste caused by disposable packaging, we are planning that all culinary offerings provided by the associations will be handed out in sustainable bowls made by a bakery in Bocholt," announces Irina Fernandes-Krühler from the LWL. Visitors can dispose of these bowls in their organic waste.

Europe Motto "EUpdate - Living and Learning in Europe

The motto of the 2023 Europe Weeks of the State of NRW this year is "EUpdate - Living and Learning in Europe". "We have applied for funding and want to give the guests of the LWL Children and Family Festival answers to the questions "How do we learn and work in the Europe of tomorrow"? and also "How can the EU promote lifelong learning" on site," announces Sonja Wießmeier from the EuropeDirect office of the city of Bocholt.
