FW Bocholt: Busy day for the Bocholt fire brigade
Bocholt (ots) -
By 9.30 pm, the Bocholt fire brigade had already been called out four times. In addition to two fires and a traffic accident with an injured person, an injured person was suspected behind a locked flat door.
The Bocholt fire brigade was first called out in the early afternoon following an emergency call from a concerned neighbour. An injured person was suspected behind a locked flat door. The fire brigade had to break open the door, as it was locked. The rescue service could only determine that the tenant had died in the flat.
In the early evening, the fire brigade was alerted to Dingdener Straße. The reason for this was a strong smoke development in the area of the driveway to the federal highway 67. A chimney fire had occurred in a single-family house. The fire brigade, in cooperation with a chimney sweep, swept the chimney. This prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the building. During the operation, the volunteer fire brigade provided basic fire protection in the city.
Only a short time later, the Bocholt fire brigade received an emergency call from Liedern. A tractor was reported to be on fire. The Suderwick volunteer fire brigade, the Dinxperlo (NL) fire brigade and the full-time fire brigade were then alerted. The tractor was already on fire when the fire brigade arrived. It was extinguished. The driver of the tractor was able to leave the cab unharmed.
At 9.25 p.m., the Bocholt fire brigade received several emergency calls at the same time. A serious traffic accident had occurred in the Ostwall area. A car overturned in the Weberstraße area and came to a standstill on its roof about 50 metres further on in front of the pharmacy there. In the area from Weberstraße to the medical centre in the direction of Nordstraße, there was debris from the car, the traffic lights and the traffic island on both lanes and the pavement.
The driver was injured in the accident and had to be transported to the St. Agnes Hospital in Bocholt. No other persons were injured in this serious accident. Ostwall was closed in both directions for 1.5 hours.
