Political talk: Argentinian consul and German diplomat come to Bocholt

Citizens' dialogue on Monday, 6 May, on disinformation and diplomacy in the run-up to the European elections // EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt and Europe-Union invite you to attend

On Monday, 6 May, an Argentinian consul and a German diplomat will meet in Bocholt. In the run-up to the European elections, they will report on the world of political diplomacy and specifically on the topic of disinformation. Politically interested citizens are cordially invited to attend. The EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt accepts registrations by e-mail at europe-direct(at)bocholt(dot)de. Participation in the political talk is free of charge. It starts at 7 pm in the historic town hall (Marktplatz).

Diplomat Tim Nover, a member of staff in the Strategic Communications Division of the Federal Foreign Office, will give interested citizens an insight into his area of responsibility. He will report on his work as a diplomat at the German embassies in Argentina and Mexico and at the EU institutions in Brussels.

Mr Nover will focus in particular on the topic of disinformation. The expert invites citizens to join in the discussion on foreign policy issues and disinformation. There is a lot of misinformation circulating on social media in particular, some of which is deliberately controlled as a campaign from abroad. Especially in the run-up to the European elections, this is intended to cause confusion and divide society.

The Consul of the Republic of Argentina, Eduardo Nazareno Muñoz, will give a welcome address.

The framework is provided by the "Townhall-Meetings" format organised by the Federal Foreign Office. Citizens can gain an insight into the work of diplomats.

The event is being organised in cooperation with Europa-Union Bocholt e.V.
