STADTRADELN" campaign: Bocholt joins the chain again!

Collect kilometres from 1-21 May and win great prizes // Set an example for a good climate // Register now

The popular nationwide STADTRADELN campaign will soon be starting again - and Bocholt is once again taking part. Bocholt citizens can start cycling for their city on 1 May 2023, diligently collecting kilometres and winning great prizes.

Registration and information

All information about STADTRADELN in Bocholt and the link to register can be found on the municipal website at www.bocholt.de/stadtradeln. Individuals and groups (teams) can register.

Last year, 1,900 people from Bocholt took part and collected a total of 472,6000 kilometres. This put Bocholt in second place. Is it possible to reach first place this year?

Cycling is worthwhile for many reasons: Environmentally friendly, no need to search for a parking space, more fitness and joie de vivre.

In Bocholt, regular cycling is especially worthwhile in May, because this year there are great prizes to be won again in the STADTRADELN. Anyone who cycles more than 150 kilometres during the three weeks of the campaign from 1 to 21 May will be entered into a prize draw.

Travel voucher, balcony power station and shopping vouchers to be won

"The prizes are a travel voucher worth 1,000 euros and a solar balcony power plant to generate electricity," says environmental officer Angela Theurich. The main prizes are sponsored by DRACHTER-Reisen Bocholt and WESTMÜNSTERLAND SOLAR.

However, participants who cover fewer kilometres during the campaign period will also be entered into a prize draw. Three shopping vouchers worth 100 euros each, sponsored by Bio-Markt Bocholt, are up for grabs.

Cycling 150 km in three weeks is not particularly difficult for typical Bocholt cyclists. It's the regularity that makes it and not necessarily individual long tours. "From the point of view of transport policy, it is precisely these daily journeys by bicycle that replace the car that hold enormous potential," says city planning officer Daniel Zöhler. "Fewer cars means fewer parking spaces, more space for green experience areas and quality of stay in the city."

Planning tours

In addition, leisure tours provide variety and fun with like-minded people. If you are still looking for ideas for cycling tours in the month of May, you will find them on the homepage of the city of Bocholt. At www.bocholt.de/radfahren there are tour tips and links to individual tour planners. In addition, the popular cycling maps will be available at reduced prices from 24 April at the Bocholt Tourist Information. This way, you can plan your own tours in advance as part of the STADTRADELN action weeks. Clubs or private cycling groups that are willing to take other cycling enthusiasts along can send their tours to the environmental department by e-mail to angela.theurich(at)bocholt(dot)de. They will then be added to the tour overview.

By the way, cyclists who do not live in Bocholt, but who work or go to school in Bocholt or belong to one of Bocholt's many clubs, are also allowed to take part and collect and report cycle kilometres for Bocholt.
