Literary journey to the Middle Ages with Richard Pooth

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, the Bocholt translator and author Richard Pooth will read from the Karlmeinet collection about the ruler Charlemagne. Among other things, Pooth translates epics from the Middle Ages into High German. Admission to the reading is free.

Translator and author Richard Pooth will read from the medieval Karlmeinet Collection on January 28, 2023. The Karlmeinet Collection is a Middle High German life story of the Frankish emperor from the Carolingian dynasty, told in excerpts. This literary collection from the Middle Ages contains the epic poem "Karlle and Eligast", in which Charlemagne's life as a child of his time and as a conqueror is described.

The life of Charlemagne

Pooth, from Bocholt, is dedicated to translating various medieval epics into High German and has already published several works on the subject. The epic poem "Karlle und Eligast" is devoted entirely to the life of Charlemagne.

The event will be held in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg at the Media Center, Futura. Admission begins at 10:45 am. Admission is free.
