Disposal of small electrical appliances: Information service and drop-off point of the ESB

Tuesday, 6 May 2025 // Recycling advice at Sankt-Georg-Platz // 9 am to 12 noon

On 6 May 2025, the waste disposal and service company (ESB) will be offering an information stand on the recycling of small electrical appliances between 9 am and 12 noon. Small electrical appliances can also be handed in for disposal directly at the stand.

Although collection volumes are steadily increasing, far too many small electrical appliances still end up in the bin and languish in basements or drawers. One of the aims of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act is to ensure that no more electrical appliances end up in the rubbish bin. Discarded small electrical appliances, such as mobile phones, contain valuable precious metals as well as substances that are harmful to the environment and health, such as heavy metals. With professional recycling, the toxic substances are disposed of safely and the raw materials are recovered.

In addition to the waste advice information stand, small electrical appliances can be handed in free of charge at the ESB recycling centre at Schaffeldstraße 74 during opening hours. Rechargeable batteries and batteries must also be removed beforehand and handed in separately.
