City considers complaint against citizens' petition unfounded

A citizen has filed a complaint at the administrative court // City sticks to proceedings

A citizen of Bocholt has filed a complaint with the Administrative Court of Münster by way of an interim injunction against the citizens' petition opposing the construction of a refugee shelter in Biemenhorst. Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff informed the city council about this on Wednesday.

The plaintiff considers the procedure to be unlawful and demands that council decisions to this effect be revoked and that the further procedure be stopped. In this context, the city of Bocholt states that it rejects all of the plaintiff's accusations.

The city emphasises that the procedure in the course of the citizens' petition has been and will be conducted properly in accordance with the applicable law pursuant to § 26 of the Municipal Code of North Rhine-Westphalia and thus on the basis of action under the rule of law with respect for the principle of neutrality. Further legal considerations in relation to the petition are currently being examined by the city of Bocholt.
