"JUNGE UNI on Tour" at the VHS Borken - online registration possible!

Start of registration for the II half-year 2023 from Thursday, 31 August 2023

For the first time, a creative course of the JUNGE UNI in Bocholt (JUBoh for short) took place in the rooms of the VHS Borken in the past weeks. The JUNGE UNI in Bocholt also draws attention to the possibility of registering for the second half of the year from August.

The extracurricular educational institution JUBoh, with its headquarters in Bocholt, is pleased about the possibility of offering courses in Borken with immediate effect, says JUBoh director Jennifer Engels: "VHS Borken has assured us of their support without hesitation, so that we now also have great premises in Borken and can offer courses from the MINT (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences, technology) but also Plus area there."

At the JUBoh, courses and excursions for children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18 are offered on a semester basis - similar to those at the FH or university. These usually take place after school in the afternoon, at weekends or sometimes during the holidays. The aim is to get children and young people excited about STEM and to provide them with initial access to science and various careers or fields of interest. In small groups, they research, build, tinker, paint and discover, pursue preferences and expand interests.

"JUNGE UNI on Tour" is an offer of the cooperation between JUNGE UNI in Bocholt and the Bildungskreis Borken. Thanks to this programme and the accompanying financial support from the Bildungskreis Borken, children and young people outside Bocholt are also given the opportunity to participate in the diverse formats of JUBoh. In addition to the regular programmes in Raesfeld, Borken and Vreden have also been added as locations this year.

Timo Bertelwick, director of the VHS Borken, is pleased to welcome the younger generation to his premises. "The concept of the JUNGE UNI in Bocholt is great; offering children and young people such opportunities and thus supporting them in setting the course for their future is a valuable task that we are happy to be a part of. Borken also has a lot to offer, and there will certainly be many more joint projects to support the local children and young people," says Timo Bertelwick, looking optimistically to the future.

Creative course in Borken

In Borken, a creative course for children between 8 and 12 years of age took place for the first time. There will be two more artistic courses this semester. "We hope to further expand the offer in Borken next semester and then also establish STEM courses there," says Isabel Testroet, Business Unit Manager of the VHS, City Library and JUNGE UNI in Bocholt. "With this offer, we have once again made a great leap forward for the (further) education landscape with the district-wide networking of our institutions," Isabel Testroet continues.

Registration for the current and future programmes is only possible via the JUBoh website at www.juboh.de. Many of the current programmes are fully booked. Many of the current programmes are fully booked, but the new programme is already being planned and can be viewed on the homepage from 24 August; the registration deadline for the second half of 2023 is 31 August.
