This is how the training programme works

As a modern library, we combine traditional tasks such as lending and advice with innovative services - from digital media to makerspaces.

During your training as a FAMI, you will not only learn how to handle books and digital portals, but also how to organise events and use modern library technology. You will be part of a dedicated team that combines education, culture and service on a daily basis.

The three-year apprenticeship takes place at the Bocholt City Library, with vocational training at the Robert-Schmidt-Berufskolleg in Essen.

These are your tasks:

  • Research in digital portals, databases and networks
  • Advising customers and clients
  • Support with the design of social media platforms (e.g. planning posts and image editing)
  • Preparation and implementation of events, exhibitions, guided tours or training courses for various target groups (e.g. holiday programme and workshops to promote media skills)
  • Procurement of media, information and data
  • Managing and securing media, collections and information carriers
  • Use of information and communication systems
