Bocholt - In preparation for the European elections on 9 June 2024, candidates from various parties will be answering questions from Bocholt's citizens. In the form of an "election arena".
Changed venue
Important note: Contrary to the first publication, the event will not take place in the Skylounge am Textilwerk, but will instead take place in the:
Restaurant "Zur Glocke"
Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 128
46395 Bocholt
The event will take place next Friday, 17 May, from 6 to 9 pm in the restaurant "Zur Glocke" in Bocholt. Admission is free and a snack is included.
The election arena series is organised by the Europa-Union Bocholt in cooperation with Europe Direct Bocholt. Europe Direct accepts registrations by e-mail at europe-direct(at)bocholt(dot)de.
Sonja Wießmeier from Europe Direct Bocholt promises that visitors to the election arena will experience a different kind of election campaign on this evening: "The election arena format focuses on the exchange between citizens and the candidates. There will be no monologues." Who is behind which political positions?
In the run-up to the event, the candidates for the European elections will be sent several questions to answer in writing, according to the city's press office. These answers will be presented on the evening of the event before the first candidate enters the election arena. Can the audience guess which party is behind the various positions?
After the audience has made a guess, the candidate reveals themselves and has to answer questions from the audience. "This gives voters the chance to ask questions about issues that are important to them", says Wießmeier. Can the candidate provide convincing arguments?
