Christoph Peters, Death in the city centre
Reading from the novel
The Kalkar-born writer Christoph Peters has written nothing less than the "Roman zur Stunde" (Denis Scheck in "Druckfrisch"). His book "Innerstädtischer Tod" is the third part of a trilogy of novels inspired by Wolfgang Koeppen, which holds up a literary mirror to our present day in all its contradictions. Peters skilfully and knowledgeably captures the cruxes and creaks of our times.
The theme of the book is highly topical, with its finger on the pulse of the times and an invitation to give your own political world view an upgrade.
The author has since been honoured with the Schubart Literature Prize for his novel "Innerstädtischer Tod".
The novel attracted a great deal of media attention, as the gallery owner Johann König thought he recognised himself in the novel and filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court with the aim of having the novel banned. At the end of that month, the media reported that the gallery owner and his wife had failed with their constitutional complaint.
We look forward to seeing Christoph Peters again in the Fontanekreis and guarantee an interesting evening in the parish hall of the Christuskirche (Schwartzstraße 4).
On this evening there will be the opportunity to purchase books by Christoph Peters, the bookshop "Thalia" from Bocholt has organised a book table.
