Which form of childcare is right for our family?
There are two different forms of childcare available at primary schools in Bocholt:
Which form of childcare is right for you and your child depends on the needs of your child and the circumstances of your family.
- VHTS is characterised by shorter and more flexible childcare hours.
- Childcare is guaranteed from Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (in individual cases until 1.45 p.m.).
- Attendance is variable on a daily basis and can also be adjusted during the year as required.
- No lunchtime catering or homework supervision is provided.
- A monthly fee of 40 euros (reduced fee of 30 euros for siblings) is payable for participation.
- The OGS offers all-day care with lunch, homework supervision and leisure activities.
- Childcare is provided from Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm.
- Attendance must be regular and usually daily.
- Participation in the shared lunchtime meal - the so-called pedagogical lunch - is also compulsory.
- The costs for participation depend on income (parental contribution).
- In addition, a separate contribution must be paid for the compulsory lunch.
About the open all-day school (OGS)
In Bocholt, all primary schools offer all-day care for pupils in the form of "Open All-Day School" (OGS). The open all-day school offers children in Bocholt reliable care, joint learning and a wide range of leisure activities.

What can my child expect at the OGS?
In the open all-day programme, children experience a varied daily routine:

Lunch: Eating together in a family atmosphere, with varied and healthy food. Special needs of individual children are taken into consideration where possible.

Homework time: Supervision by teachers and educational staff. The aim is independent work, no tutoring.

Leisure time and AGs: The children can choose from sports, music, creative activities and projects. This encourages talents and strengthens interests.

Free play: Time with friends is part of the programme. That's why there is room for self-determined play every day.
What are the OGS childcare hours?
The OGS opens on all school days from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm. Regular attendance is compulsory. Exceptions, such as for music school, sports clubs or therapies, are possible by arrangement.
What does the OGS cost?
A monthly parental contribution is charged for your child's participation in OGS. If several children from the same family or from persons who take the place of the parents in accordance with §2 Para. 2 of the Kitasatzung attend an OGS, a day care centre for children or a day care centre at the same time, only one contribution is charged.
Admission to the open all-day school always takes place on 1 August of each year, regardless of the start of the school year.

The additional costs for lunchtime catering are invoiced directly by the individual schools or the provider. Holders of the Münsterland Card can apply for subsidies. Information on this can be obtained from the city administration, Department of Social Affairs, Berliner Platz 2 (job centre or housing benefit).
When using holiday childcare, the respective services must be paid for additionally. The costs vary depending on the provider and utilisation. The regular parental contributions also apply during the holidays, regardless of holiday care.

How can I register my child for the OGS?
If possible, parents should register their children with the respective primary school as part of the school enrolment process. The school management decides on admission.

Enrolment is binding for at least one school year.

Deregistration must take place no later than 15 March before the start of the new school year, otherwise the registration is automatically extended.

Enrolment ends automatically at the end of year 4.
