Municipal heat planning: City launches participation process

Information forum planned for 10 June // Plans on the website

The city of Bocholt is setting the course for a climate-friendly heat supply: The draft of the municipal heating plan is available and will be presented to the Environment and Green Committee in June 2025. Citizens are invited to inform themselves about the plan and comment on it from 1 to 30 June 2025. The city council is expected to make a final decision in July.

CITY CYCLING 2025: Bocholt once again beats last year's result

The campaign period for this year's CITY CYCLING for Bocholt ended on 21 May 2025. Once again, the previous year's results were surpassed on this date. The kilometres cycled during the campaign period can still be added until 28 May.

CITY CYCLING 2025 - interim results at the halfway point

The first half of the CITY CYCLING 2025 campaign is over! With over 330,000 kilometres cycled so far, Bocholt is in first place nationwide among municipalities in the 50,000 - 100,000 inhabitants size category. Now it's time to pedal hard for the remaining period and continue collecting kilometres!

Annual tree: American red oak planted in Bocholt

The red oak is the tree of the year 2025. A specimen of the tree, which is becoming increasingly important in times of climate change, can now be found on Bocholt's "Path of Annual Trees" in the Feldmark. Bocholt CDU city councillor Bernhard Lübberdink and his partner Gisela Giesing have taken over the sponsorship of the annual tree.

On Thursday, 1 May 2025, the CITY CYCLING campaign will start again in Bocholt. The campaign, in which cyclists track their kilometres and collect them for their city and region, begins just in time for the spring weather.

Bocholt Sustainability Award: Winning tree planted at Aasee lake

Amur cork tree for Büngern technology // Winning with grave light idea

As part of the Bocholt Sustainability Award, an Amur cork tree (Phellodendron amurense) was planted at the Aasee lake this week. The tree is dedicated to Büngern-Technik, whose sustainable product "Cera Lights" won first place in Bocholt's Sustainability Award. Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff thanked all applicants for their commitment to the sustainable development of the city.

Cycling is in Bocholt's blood

CITY CYCLING 2024: Winners from Bocholt accept prizes // St. Bernhard primary school wins the "School Cycling NRW" competition

Bocholt has achieved second place in the overall ranking for medium-sized towns (50,000 to 100,000 inhabitants) in the nationwide CITY CYCLING initiative. 3,013 active cyclists in 197 teams cycled for the city from Westmünsterland. The campaign was combined with a competition. The lucky winners have now received their prizes.
