CITY CYCLING: Collect kilometres from 1 May
Bocholt. The "STADTRADELN 2026" campaign kicks off in Bocholt on 1 May. The city will once again be collecting kilometres for the title defence mission until 21 May. The traditional May tour offers a good opportunity to top up your city cycling account right at the start.
Just a few days to go before it's time to get back on the bike and collect kilometres! STADTRADELN 2026 starts in Bocholt on 1 May. For three weeks, until 21 May, citizens, clubs, schools and companies will pedal together to cycle as many kilometres as possible for Bocholt in the nationwide competition. The aim is to set an example for climate-friendly mobility and also to defend the title of best medium-sized city with less than 100,000 inhabitants.
There is a particularly good opportunity right at the start: many Bocholters traditionally use May Day for a cycle tour with family or friends. "The kilometres cycled can be entered directly into the CITY CYCLING event - an ideal start to the campaign. So: get your bike out, plan your tour and make every kilometre count for Bocholt from 1 May", say Sascha Terörde from the City of Bocholt's Climate Protection Department and Karsten Tersteegen, City Brand Officer at the Business Development and City Marketing Company, jointly calling for participation.
Every kilometre counts - whether on the way to work, running errands or in your free time. If you would like to take part, you can find information and register at www.bocholt.de/stadtradeln or at www.stadtradeln.de/bocholt. Kilometres can be recorded via the STADTRADELN app. If you prefer to record your kilometres by hand, STADTRADELN sheets are available at the Tourist Information Bocholt (Nordstraße). Route tips are also available there.
Over 2,200 participants have registered for Bocholt so far. Teams can also be formed or strengthened.
Last year, almost 746,000 kilometres were collected in three weeks. Bocholt wants to build on this - and is once again counting on full cycle paths in May.
