Volunteering: event series "Marktplatz Nachbarschaftshilfe" to be continued
Next event on Wednesday, 10 September 2025 // 5 p.m. in the St. Josef parish hall
The city of Bocholt's senior citizens' office is continuing its "Marktplatz Nachbarschaftshilfe" event series in September. The next event will take place on 10 September at 5 pm, this time in the St. Josef parish hall (Karolinger Straße 14). Senior citizens with a care degree and interested neighbourhood helpers are cordially invited to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere and make appointments for neighbourhood help.
The aim of "Markplatz Nachbarschaftshilfe" is to bring together senior citizens with a care degree who are looking for support in their everyday lives with committed volunteers. Whether for shopping, walks, household chores or visits to the doctor - there are many different ways to provide support.
Positive response
"In spring, there were many 'matches' and positive feedback from senior citizens and their relatives, who would not have found any support without the event", reports Christian Tewiele, Head of Division for Pensions, Senior Citizens, Care and Volunteering. This is why the marketplace will be organised regularly in future as a permanent institution.
Neighbourhood help is financed by the care insurance fund's relief amount, so there are no additional costs for senior citizens. Neighbourhood helpers receive a tax-free allowance of up to 131 euros per month per person supported.
Registration and contact
Interested senior citizens and potential neighbourhood helpers are asked to register with the City of Bocholt's senior citizens' office. This can be done by e-mail to seniorenbuero(at)bocholt(dot)de or by telephone on 02871 953 2234.
Further information on the project can be found on the website of the city of Bocholt at www.bocholt.de/marktplatz-nachbarschaftshilfe.
