The Bocholt fire brigade has made numerous preparations in preparation for the funfair. This also included the reinforcement of personnel at the fire and rescue station. During night times, additional forces of the Bocholt fire brigade manned an additional ambulance. During the daytime and at night, another fire engine manned by volunteers was also put into service. They were also supported by the German Red Cross, which provided up to two ambulances and two patient transport vehicles as well as an emergency doctor on the fairgrounds.
The ambulance service had to be called out a total of 237 times during this period. Of these, 86 were in the immediate vicinity of the fair, 36 of which were hospital transports by the DRK.
The fire brigade was called out to a total of 19 incidents. These were various assistance services, support for the rescue service and the fire on a farm in Stenern.
"All in all, we had to deal with a lot more incidents in connection with the fair than in previous years," reported Dirk Arping, who was responsible for planning and preparing the fire brigade for the fair. "Fortunately, there were no serious emergencies. We will analyse the operations together with the organiser and the police and take the results into account for further planning." added Arping.
