FW Bocholt: Busy start to the week

In addition to several fire alarm systems and a triggered home smoke detector, the Bocholt fire brigade was alerted on Monday morning to a leak of large quantities of diesel at a company site in Bocholt-Mussum. On site, a lorry had ruptured its fuel tank on a metal part, allowing several hundred litres to escape. The spill spread both on the asphalt surface of the premises and in the soil of an adjacent embankment. The spilled fuel was absorbed with binding agents, the remaining fuel was pumped out of the vehicle and the contaminated soil was removed over a large area with the help of a contractor. The fire brigade was on the scene for about 2.5 hours with 13 emergency personnel and several special vehicles. The volunteer fire brigade was also alerted.
