57 operations in 24 hours - rescue services and fire brigade of the city of Bocholt heavily challenged
Bocholt - The Bocholt fire brigade was called out to a total of 57 incidents on Tuesday. The majority of the call-outs were for the rescue service, which was very busy throughout the city.
The fire service was also called out: The emergency services had to be called out three times due to triggered carbon monoxide detectors in flats. In all cases, these were presumably malfunctions of heating systems that were unable to properly discharge exhaust fumes due to the summer heat. The affected areas were checked and ventilated - fortunately there were no injuries.
There were also two road accidents, in each of which a rescue helicopter was deployed. The injured persons were flown to specialised clinics after receiving emergency medical treatment on site.
Another, rather unusual operation took place over the phone: A man who was in Bocholt on business contacted the fire brigade's operations centre in Bocholt. He was worried about his wife, who was in the Nuremberg area. The colleagues in Bocholt took the emergency call seriously and immediately forwarded the information to the relevant control centre in Nuremberg, helping to ensure that the woman could be helped quickly.
