About the themed series "My Europe / Mein Europa"
"My Europe" is an interactive digital event series that invites its guests to discover Europe. The organisers talk to young people from different countries about Europe and their personal topics of interest. The topics are as diverse as the speakers and can range from current political and social developments, culture and science to their own commitment to greater tolerance or solidarity. In addition to the specified topic, all participants can also vote live on other topics and ask questions themselves in the evening.
About the speaker
On 22 November, Izabela Szymańska will take the audience on a virtual trip to Poland. She is a Master's student in International Relations at the University of Wrocław. Izabela also works at the European Union Infopoint in Wrocław (in cooperation with the regional representation of the European Commission and the Office of the European Parliament). In addition to training courses for Polish children and young people on the activities of the EU, she currently also organises seminars for people in other European countries (e.g. Moldova or Georgia). The topics she has been focussing on in recent months have been disinformation and cyber security. In her free time, she loves travelling and exploring different cultures. Izabela likes to read a lot - especially books by female authors. She is also a member of the student science association "Project Europe", which promotes the ideas of European integration and cooperation through various activities.
The topic
The audience will get to know Poland and learn some interesting facts about Izabela's hometown of Wrocław. Izabela will also talk about Poland's accession to the European Union in 2004 and how Poles view the EU. She will also explain why her work is so important.
The event will be moderated by Kathi Ross, freelance journalist.

The series of events is free of charge and is organised by a large network with the following partners: AEGEE Aachen, Institut Français Aachen, JEF NRW, Karlspreisstiftung, Karlspreis-Akademie and the EUROPE DIRECT Centres from Aachen, Ostbelgien, Kreis Gütersloh, Dortmund, Duisburg, Essen and Bocholt.
