Europe: Young Italian woman talks about her country

Online event from the series "My Europe" on Wednesday, September 28, from 7 p.m. with Annalisa Geraci // Europe Direct Bocholt invites you

The Europe Direct office in Bocholt is now drawing attention to an online event next Wednesday, September 28, which Bocholt residents interested in Europe can attend free of charge. In the series "My Europe" (My Europe) young people from Europe present topics from their country. On Wednesday, Annalisa Geraci from Italy will talk about her country. The start is at 7 p.m.

Interested parties can register via the link www.europedirect-aachen.de/component/eventbooking/mein-europa/my-europe-italy. The access data will be sent by e-mail.

Geraci takes audience on virtual trip to Italy

Annalisa Geraci (33) is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in international law at the University of Teramo (Italy, Abruzzo region). She graduated in 2014 with a degree in International Political Science and Administration. After graduation, she continued her academic work as a PhD candidate in EU law and international law, focusing on the migration crisis and EU policies and legislation in the Common European Asylum System. In recent years, she has participated in several conferences and workshops across Europe (Utrecht, Lisbon and Paris).

Geraci will engage guests with a quiz on Wednesday. In addition, Italy is the destination of many refugees who come to Europe through the Mediterranean Sea. Annalisa will talk about migration and integration in Italy, including the common European responsibility. Her opinion on the outcome of the recent parliamentary elections in the "boot country" should also be exciting.

Lotte Footh will be moderating the discussion.

How the online discussion works technically

On the day of the event, it will still be possible to join in just a few minutes before the event begins. At the online event, participants will not be seen or heard in person. Instead, questions and comments can be entered via the keyboard; the moderator passes the questions on to the speakers. If necessary, guests' microphones are activated to allow questions directly via audio.

About the "My Europe" series

""My Europe" is an interactive digital event series that invites its guests to discover Europe," says Sonja Wießmeier, the Bocholt Europe Direct representative.

The presenters talk to young people from different countries about Europe and their personal topics of interest. The topics are as diverse as the speakers and can range from current political and social developments to culture and science to one's own commitment to greater tolerance or solidarity. In addition to the given topic, participants can also vote live on other topics and ask questions themselves in the evening.
