Eighth aid transport packed for Ukraine

Relief supplies for the city of Verkhniodniprovsk // Sports equipment, generators and much more on board

Sporting goods, generators and medical equipment will be making their way from Bocholt to Ukraine again next weekend. The city of Verkhniodniprovsk, which is linked by a solidarity partnership, will once again receive relief supplies, which will be transported there on a 40-tonne lorry.

Last week, the eighth aid transport was packed for the Ukrainian solidarity partner city of Verkhniodniprovsk. The need for relief supplies remains great in view of the high number of internally displaced persons and the difficult supply situation in Ukraine.

The Bocholt lorry was loaded with numerous boxes, sacks and other important relief supplies in a joint effort. Many volunteers, including Ukrainian refugees currently living in Bocholt, took part in loading the lorry.

Among the special donations of this relief operation were sports equipment, such as football goals, balls, sportswear, etc., which were procured and donated by the ROTARY Club Bocholt. Mayor Gennnadii Lebid from Verkhniodniprovsk had specifically asked for these sports items in order to offer the population an opportunity to distract themselves from the stressful situation and to promote physical fitness.

The ongoing attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure are making the local power supply extremely difficult. Mayor Lebid therefore once again emphasised the importance of independent power sources. Several generators were therefore procured, which will now be transported to Ukraine on 4 July 2025.

At the special request of the twin city, medical supplies were loaded again this time. These include an ultrasound machine, hospital beds, examination tables and other medical equipment that will significantly improve care for the local population.

These generous donations make the regular aid shipments to Verkhniodniprovsk possible in the first place. The Ukrainian twin city would like to thank all the committed organisations, volunteers and the city of Bocholt for their ongoing support.
