Bocholt sends another large aid transport for Verkhniodniprovsk

Equipment for schools, kindergartens and winter care included

On 7 September 2025, the city of Bocholt, together with "Helfende Hände e. V." from the parish of St. Josef, set off on an extensive humanitarian aid transport to Verkhniodniprovsk. The 40-tonne lorry was loaded to the roof with donations in kind.

Donations from the public and local companies make this aid delivery possible: 118 fire extinguishers, 10 generators, school furniture, winter clothing, beds, medical supplies - packed and loaded with the support of Ukrainian and Syrian refugees. The transport was organised by the "Blau-Gelbes Kreuz e. V." Cologne association and financed by the Service Agency Communities in One World.

Aid delivery with a wide range of equipment

This new aid transport to the Ukrainian twin town of Verkhniodniprovsk will deliver vital equipment in view of the frequent power cuts and fire risks on site. Equipping two classrooms and two kindergarten groups with chairs and tables is also one of the key elements of the delivery. Other relief supplies include warm clothing for the winter, beds and bedding as well as medical supplies to make everyday life in Verkhniodniprovsk easier in the difficult months ahead.

Community support on the ground

The donations came from local citizens and companies. Not only volunteers from the Bocholt Volunteer Agency helped with the loading, but also refugees from Ukraine and Syria who live in Bocholt and Dingden. Their commitment is a strong sign of lived solidarity and integration.

Financing the humanitarian aid transport

The costs for transport and logistics are made possible by the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW), which supports municipal development cooperation projects throughout Germany. With this new humanitarian aid transport, the city of Bocholt is emphasising its solidarity with the people in the Ukrainian twin city of Verkhniodniprovsk.
