Online event: France in transition - where is the "Grande Nation" heading?

Expert panel with Élisabeth Cadot and Siebo Janssen on 18 November 2025 // Cooperation between EUROPE DIRECT, DFG and Europa-Union Bocholt

France is once again facing political upheaval following the fall of Prime Minister Bayrou. What consequences will this have for the country and for Europe? This question is the focus of an online discussion on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, which is being offered in cooperation with EUROPE DIRECT, the Franco-German Society Bocholt and the Europa-Union Bocholt e.V.. It will start at 7 pm.

France is regarded as a key partner for Germany within the European Union. Government crises in Paris therefore also have an impact on European developments. France expert Élisabeth Cadot and Europe expert Siebo Janssen shed light on the current political situation in France, the role of the new Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and the challenges facing the country - from high national debt to deep social tensions. The discussion will be moderated by Jochen Leyhe.

Interested citizens are invited to actively participate and ask questions. Participation is free of charge. Registration is possible via EUROPE DIRECT Gütersloh at https://ogy.de/Frankreich1811. The participation link will be sent after registration.
