Women's health: City of Bocholt invites you to a day of action at the Europahaus
Lectures and workshops on 13 September // Registration until 9 September
On 13 September 2025, the Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Bocholt, together with experts from various health sectors, invites all interested women to the Europahaus on the topic of women's health.
Under the motto "From woman to woman - health that connects", participants can expect an inspiring day full of valuable impulses, practical offers and space for exchange on all aspects of health and well-being between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm.
Gender-sensitive medicine
Women's health is not just about pregnancy, birth or contraception, but about a holistic view of the body, psyche and social living conditions of women. Women's health is influenced by biological, social and economic factors that often differ significantly from those of men.
Gender-sensitive medicine is crucial to recognising and taking account of these differences. It asks, for example:
- How do medications work for women compared to men?
- Why are certain illnesses more common or progress differently in women?
- What role do life circumstances, role models and psychological stress play?
Only if medicine and healthcare take these questions seriously can fair, effective and individualised care be guaranteed.
Health literacy for women
To realise this, a social change is needed that gives women more room for self-determination and health literacy.
"Whether it's the menstrual cycle, mental health, stress, menopause or the question of how women don't lose themselves in hectic everyday life - their own health is a central key to their well-being and performance", says Bocholt's Equal Opportunities Officer Astrid Schupp, who will open the day of action at 11 am.
Christiane Sauret, renowned trainer for "Cycle-orientated work", will then give a talk on the topic. According to Sauret, "women can improve their performance and self-awareness in their everyday working life enormously by gaining a better understanding of their cycle". In another workshop on the day, she will impart in-depth knowledge about hormonal changes during the menopause "in order to make the most of the change".
Mental health
Anyone wanting to find out more about "happiness" will be in good hands with Sonja Hüls, who will show how happiness strengthens the immune system and promotes health.
Many other interesting lectures and workshops await the women on this day:
- Mindfulness exercises to strengthen mental resilience (Charlotte Unterberg)
- First experiences with the didgeridoo as a breathing and sound instrument (Dörte Schlüter)
- Gender-specific aspects of mental health (Nicole Kruse-Banken and Dr Frauke Hänsch)
- Workshop "Stressbalance" to positively influence everyday life (Sina Milewski)
The Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Bocholt, Astrid Schupp, cordially invites all interested women of all ages with the following words: "Because health is more than just the absence of illness. Because women are often there for others - and should not forget themselves. And because community strengthens - and knowledge protects. I look forward to welcoming you to the Europahaus on 13 September!"
