Lecture series: Energy-efficient refurbishment - tips from the professionals

Lecture series by the Borken Climate Circle and the District Craftsmen's Association // 20 and 27 May 2025 // Dates in Bocholt and Velen

With a joint series of lectures on the subject of "Energetic Refurbishment", the Borken Climate Circle in cooperation with the towns and the Borken District Craftsmen's Association provide information on the subject of "Energetic Refurbishment".

Photovoltaics, heat pump - yes or no? And what does sustainable building actually mean? A number of questions quickly arise for building owners when it comes to the topic of sustainable construction. This series of lectures aims to answer them.

The speaker is Ralf Sparwel, head master of the Ahaus Sanitary, Heating and Air Conditioning Guild. He has been working as an energy consultant in the trade for over 20 years and will pass on valuable information and tips as part of the lecture series. Two lectures in the series have already taken place in Borken and Vreden, and two more will be held in Bocholt and Velen. All interested parties are welcome and can register online in advance. Participation is free of charge.

Lecture "Quality meets sustainability: How to build and renovate sustainably" in Bocholt

Ralf Sparwel explains what is meant by sustainable building and discusses insulation materials, concrete ceilings and windows. What is suitable for what and which funding channels are suitable? In addition to practical examples - with "before-and-after" impressions - the expert also provides sample calculations and goes into more detail about the costs. "Well insulated means saving in the long term", Sparwel emphasises the sustainability aspect.

Lecture "Cleverly promoting building refurbishment - a compass through the funding jungle" in Velen

KFW - BEG EM - Progress NRW: Who can recognise all these abbreviations and make sense of them all? In his presentation, Ralf Sparwel will shed some light on the subject, explain special tax write-offs and KfW development loans and explain how up to 70 per cent funding and financing with just 0.01 per cent interest are possible. He shows interested parties what they need to bear in mind and what deadlines apply in each case. You will receive practical tips and a guide to the respective examples of funding.

Background information: Climate Circle Borken
The Borken Climate Circle is the umbrella organisation and network of the 17 towns and municipalities with the Borken district. The committee meets regularly to coordinate current developments, initiate joint projects and promote dialogue. It coordinates in order to strengthen climate protection work throughout the district.

The main topic for the year 2025 is "Energetic refurbishment": The network has set itself the task of informing, sensitising and motivating homeowners to refurbish their buildings to make them more energy efficient in order to preserve values, stay in their homes for a long time, increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact
