Environmental clown action celebrates anniversary

Learning how to deal with waste in a playful way - that's what the "environmental clowns" are all about. This year, after a break due to corona, they are visiting the kindergartens again - and celebrating their "anniversary".

Learning in a playful way: In cooperation with members of the old people's theatre "Die Spätzünder" from the association Leben im Alter E.V. (LiA), waste advisor Karin Kalka-Freundt from the Entsorgungs- und Servicebetrieb Bocholt visits a total of four Bocholt kindergartens in May. With rehearsed scenes and funny interludes, together they teach the children how to deal with waste properly.

Learning in a playful way

Whether it's the topic of dog excrement, carelessly throwing away rubbish, avoiding rubbish or sorting rubbish, the different areas are taught with a lot of fun and great commitment from all involved. "In the course of the programme, the children can always get active themselves," says Kalka-Freundt. They quickly catch on and enthusiastically sing "rubbish songs", eagerly sort rubbish into a set-up "sorting station" and discuss the issue of too much rubbish.

Kick-off event and 50th appearance of the environmental clowns at the St. Barbara kindergarten

The campaign started at the "St. Barbara" kindergarten on Mussumer Kirchweg. According to Kalka-Freundt, this was the 50th event of this kind. Both the environmental clowns and the waste advisor are delighted that this event has been so well received for so many years. The first event took place in 2016. Further events will take place at the Wildwiese kindergarten and the St. Josef kindergarten, and finally the Siekids kindergarten will enjoy the educational event.
