City of Bocholt hosts information day on insulation materials

As part of its environmental offensive, the city of Bocholt is holding an information day on insulation materials on Saturday, 25 March, from 11 am to 4 pm. The focus of the event is on insulation options for double-skin clinker brick houses.

Specialist lectures and a small trade fair with companies from the industry will present various processes. The venue is Spencers Bistro in the Kinodrom in Bocholt. Admission is free. Registration is not necessary. The event is taking place as part of the "ThermoCard" hands-on offer. With the TÜV-certified foil thermometer, house residents can identify cold bridges themselves.

"Insulation measures also make sense for the typical double-shell construction of clinker brick houses in Münsterland. Contrary to what is often assumed, the air layer between the inner sand-lime brickwork and the outer clinker brickwork does not insulate, because the air layer moves," explains Arnold Drewer of the IPEG Institute Paderborn, the competence centre for building modernisation, and recommends filling the cavity. "There are great processes available now that have a lot of energetic effect."

In the lecture "How Core Insulation Pays for Itself", which takes place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Arnold Drewer rummages through his "insulation material case". With 34 different insulation materials, he has a solution for every house. "Visitors can expect the largest transportable insulation exhibition in Germany at this lecture," the expert announces.

Under the motto "Insulation - Do it yourself!", Arnold Drewer will discuss insulation options for hobbyists at 12 noon and 3 pm. He will present possible measures that residents can carry out themselves, for example, to insulate upper storey ceilings, roller shutter boxes, attic stairs or pipes.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., homeowners can have their questions answered directly by companies in the sector. For interested parties with already defined needs, the visit is doubly worthwhile, because all exhibiting companies are willing to accept orders in Bocholt and the surrounding area.

"House insulation does not always have to involve long-lasting work and high costs. Cavity insulation, for example, makes it possible to achieve results that effectively save energy and money within a very short time," explains Peter Ludolf, whose company Dachfit will be represented at the fair.
