Action: Detect cold bridges with the ThermoCard

New environmental offensive in Bocholt: The city of Bocholt wants to help citizens to recognise weak points in the insulation of old buildings. In the coming week, ThermoCards will be distributed to residents of old buildings in Bocholt.

With the TÜV-certified foil thermometer, house residents can identify cold bridges themselves. "Many houses from the 1950s to 1970s can be significantly upgraded by comparatively small modifications," says Bocholt's municipal building officer Daniel Zöhler. These measures include effective insulation, tight window frames, encasing pipes and installing solar panels.

"With the ThermoCard campaign, we also want to make the people of Bocholt more aware of the topic," says Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff. In this way, every house inhabitant can become active himself or herself.

Expert lecture on 1 February

As a second step, the city of Bocholt is planning an expert lecture with energy consultant Björn Gottemeier, in which interested parties can also participate digitally. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, 1 February, from 5.30 pm. "For those who prefer to clarify their questions in a personal conversation, we are currently planning an information evening at the Europahaus," says environmental officer Angela Theurich.

All information on both events can be found at www.bocholt.de/altbausanierung, where the city of Bocholt has also posted useful tips and videos on renovating old buildings.
