6th International Matching Fair at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences
Around 40 companies presented themselves to students at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, Bocholt Campus on Thursday
On 12 October 2023, the International Matching Fair took place from 13:00 to 16:00 at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, Campus Bocholt. The Westphalian University of Applied Sciences and the International Network Office (an association of the Bocholt Economic Development Agency and the NL municipalities of Oude Ijsselstreek, Aalten and Winterswijk) had invited the participants.
A total of around 40 companies were present that afternoon, including several Bocholt companies such as Benning, Flender, Grundwald, Rudolf Ostermann, Sinnack and many others. But 14 Dutch exhibitors from the neighbouring Achterhoek region were also represented. The companies used the opportunity to come into intensive contact with the students. Shortly after the event began, it was almost impossible to get through the stands. Particularly in demand on this afternoon from the students were working student jobs, internships for students/graduates and the supervision of bachelor's / master's theses. The matching fair offered a good opportunity for this. The students were thus able to make contact with companies from the border region at an early stage.
"The positive response from both companies and students shows us that this matching fair is an established format for directing the interest of young academics to companies in the border region. Thus, our event actively counteracts the current developments of the shortage of skilled workers," sum up Prof. Dr. Martin Maß, Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Bocholt Campus, and Ludger Dieckhues, Economic Development Officer of the City of Bocholt.
