Stickers against bee plague

Honey residues in the glass container can become a danger for local bee colonies: Honey residues can transmit the bee disease "American foulbrood". To point out the danger, members of the beekeepers' association have now attached stickers to the glass containers.

These days, members of the Bocholt Beekeepers' Association are placing stickers on all glass containers in Bocholt. The stickers, which are the size of a dinner plate, inform the users of the containers that honey jars must be rinsed with hot water before being put into the container.

The reason for this measure is that the notifiable bee disease "American foulbrood" could be spread via honey. Rinsing reduces this transmission route.

Stickers to warn of danger

This is what it looks like: The sticker to warn against foulbrood

The beekeepers' association approached the waste disposal and service company, which maintains the glass and paper containers, with the idea of using stickers to draw attention to foulbrood. The design and printing of the stickers was then commissioned directly by the ESB.

A drawing of a sick bee draws the eye to the short information text. The members of the beekeepers' association are responsible for affixing the almost 300 notices.
