ESB information stand on the subject of "bio bins"
Information stand of the waste disposal and service company (ESB) // Tuesday, 3 June 2025 at Sankt-Georg-Platz
On 3 June, Petra Tacke, waste consultant at the ESB, will be providing information about the organic waste bin at Sankt-Georg-Platz from 9 am to 12 noon. Anyone interested can also expect a little surprise.
Many people often associate the organic waste bin with unpleasant odours and dirt, which is why it is not particularly popular. However, the end product resulting from organic waste, compost, can be described as "black gold". It serves to improve the soil, allowing fruit and vegetables to grow better. Waste from this food is in turn disposed of in organic waste - thus completing the cycle of nature.
Unfortunately, non-compostable waste also ends up in the organic waste bin from time to time, contaminating the compost. All too often, fruit nets, plastic bags, coffee capsules and jars end up in the organic waste bin. "In some cases, this waste is due to ignorance", emphasises Petra Tacke. To counteract this, the information stand provides various information on how to fill the bin correctly as well as practical tips on how to use the organic waste bin.
