Bocholt's "October fever" rises
The Bocholt funfair will take place during the autumn holidays from 17 to 20 October 2025. This year, visitors can once again look forward to the four-day highlight, because from Friday to Monday inclusive, there will be lots of attractive rides for young and old, exciting games and all kinds of savoury and sweet treats, as well as refreshing drinks.
The showmen and local landlords invite you to take a stroll round the four days of the funfair.
Long preparation - good mix of rides
From a large number of applications, 320 showmen and showwomen and local innkeepers were considered for a stand at the traditional city centre fair. The Bocholt funfair is not only a fixed date in the calendars of Bocholt residents - the "folk festival" is also very popular beyond the region.
When it comes to the selection of fairground rides, fairground organiser Markus Kock has one thing particularly close to his heart: a mixture of high-quality and large rides as well as a wide range of offers for children and families and an attractive selection of snack and bar businesses. "Of course we have a lot to do in the run-up and it means months of preparation, but it's a lot of fun to plan and realise the funfair for Bocholt. We are rewarded for this on the funfair weekend, because people enjoy their visit to the funfair to the full", says Kock.
And it's not just visitors from Bocholt and the region who look forward to the funfair every year. "Our showmen like being in Bocholt because the funfair is very important here and people celebrate together peacefully", adds City Marketing Director Ludger Dieckhues.
Bocholt becomes a funfair city
A complete infrastructure with electricity and water supply as well as modified traffic routing will be set up for the event days.
Hundreds of caravans and showmen's logistics vehicles are set up throughout the city. "The special thing about the Bocholt funfair is that it is an appealing combination of a city centre funfair and a large centre on the largest square in the city centre, Berliner Platz. This means that there are different walking routes, which always open up new views. There is something for everyone," Dieckhues is certain.
Thanks to a sophisticated advertising concept, visitors from outside Bocholt, many from the neighbouring Netherlands, will also be reached.
Space behind "Kinodrom" remains
The square behind the Kinodrom, the "old fire station", will also be fully used again. This space has been included in the events for three years now and has been very well received by visitors ever since.
This year, large rides such as "Heidi the Coaster", "Airborne", "Autoskooter Number 1" as well as two pubs, a children's carousel and the "Looping the Loop" swing will once again be located on the site of the old fire station. The combination of high-quality businesses has ensured a high quality of stay with a good frequency of visitors over the past two years, so that the city marketing department is once again focussing on this attraction this year.
