Summer Reading Club 2025 - registration now open

Summer reading club at the city library // Free holiday programme

Registration for the Summer Reading Club 2025 has begun. Anyone interested can take part in the free holiday programme, use the library, take part in events and hunt for stamps.

Book fans of all ages can look forward to this year's Summer Reading Club (SLC) during the six-month summer holidays. Participants will receive an SLC logbook in which they can collect stamps for books they have read or listened to. In addition, the logbook can be creatively designed, own stories can be written and a reading box can be made.

The most impressive results will be awarded a "Reading Oscar" during the big closing ceremony on 6 September. "Our Oscar Gala as the grand finale of the Summer Reading Club is always something special", says Claudia Alders from the city library. "Many children can look forward to receiving a reading Oscar in various categories and there is of course also a small highlight for our guests", she explains. This year, children's author Christian Tielmann will be coming along to read from 'School of Beastly Island'.

Varied programme of events

The city library team has once again put together a varied programme of events for all participants this year. In addition to popular formats such as the gamer morning, the arts and crafts programme or the children's cinema, participants can discover the world of snakes and lizards together with the expert MASI, take part in a first aid course or dive into the world of a pen & paper role-playing game as a hero squad.

In addition to the SLC programme, two creative workshops will be offered: From 11 to 15 August, author Akram El-Bahay will lead a writing workshop as part of Schreibland NRW. In addition, anyone interested can create their own graffiti artwork as part of the Kulturrucksack programme from 18 to 21 August. Further information on the full programme can be found on the Bocholt City Library website and at Sommerleseclub.de.

Registration and free participation

Registration for the SLC 2025 is now possible via the Bocholt City Library website or directly on site. Registrations for all events and for the Oscar award ceremony are accepted by e-mail to stadtbibliothek(at)bocholt(dot)de. Participation in the entire Summer Reading Club programme is free of charge. Registration for the paid writing workshop and for the Kulturrucksack programme is done separately on the city library's website. Further questions can be answered by e-mail or by telephone on 02871 / 953 2288.

Everyone is cordially invited to take part in the various events of the summer reading club - whether alone, as a family or together with friends. The Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
