Fourth grade reading competition must be cancelled

The regional decision of the reading competition for fourth graders in the district of Borken, which was to take place on Saturday, January 22, 2022, has to be cancelled. The reason for this is the high incidence in the district of Borken and in Bocholt. A make-up date will be announced in due course.
The Bocholt City Library, in consultation with the Department of Culture and Education, has decided to cancel the regional decision of the fourth grades on Saturday, 22.01.2022. After two participants of the competition already had to go into quarantine and the incidences in the district have reached a new high, the decision unfortunately had to be made to cancel the event. "An in-person event is currently too great a health risk for all participants," said Melanie Tenhumberg, head of the public library.
Make-up date to be announced in due course
Participants who have been preparing for the competition for weeks will be informed as soon as possible about a catch-up date. According to the report, a digital event, as was the case last year, is also conceivable. "We hope that everyone stays healthy and that we can make up for the competition as soon as possible," said Claudia Alders, coordinator of the reading competition.
