Advent raffle of the public library a complete success

Due to the great demand at the raffle ticket sale, a donation of 600 euros could be handed over to the campaign "Neighbors in Need

After the conclusion of the large Advent raffle at the Bocholt City Library, First City Councilor Thomas Waschki was able to hand over the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales to publisher Jörg Terheyden for the "Neighbors in Need" relief campaign.

In the Advent season of 2022, the Bocholt Municipal Library organized an Advent raffle for a good cause for the first time. For this, tickets could be purchased for the value of 1 euro, which were collected in a large lottery pot. From the beginning of December, the "Advent doors" were opened daily and the individual ticket numbers were drawn under supervision. The ticket number of the winner of the day was then announced on the Instagram channel of the public library, on the website and on site. The prizes could be picked up at the public library upon presentation of the ticket.

Great demand among the citizens of Bocholt

Elisa Rickert, a student of "Library and Digital Communication" at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, who accompanied the raffle as part of her semester internship in the field of public relations, was thrilled by the great interest and demand from the citizens of Bocholt. "After just a few days, we had to increase the number of tickets! Many of our readers wanted to support the "Neighbors in Need" campaign and help needy people who are in financial distress through the Lions Relief Fund."

Value vouchers, tickets, games and more to be won

Among the numerous prizes were vouchers and products from Bocholt stores, vendors and restaurants that supported the campaign with great prizes. Among them were for example the Spielebude Bocholt, Café Huckleberry's, the Alte Molkerei, local bookstores and many more.

Of course, the city library and the VHS also participated. There were also vouchers for "Bocholt liest" events or VHS lectures to be won. The highlights of the raffle were an Arkaden voucher worth 100 euros and a voucher from Gartenmöbel Valk, also worth 100 euros.

"We are very happy that so many partners were willing to support us in the campaign. Truly exceptional prizes have come together. The winners were very happy about the vouchers and gifts! Our team will definitely offer the campaign again in December 2023," said Melanie Tenhumberg, Head of the City Library. "Hopefully we can double the amount donated then!"
