Traces in the Fens - The Achterland Thrillers

Reading with the author Georg Bühren and the actor Hermann Fischer

Even though the borderland between Vreden and Winterswijk is fortunately not comparable to Chicago or New York in terms of crime, the village policeman in the three Achterland crime novels published so far is not only dealing with regional offences and routine crimes. Time and again, he comes across far-reaching connections and oversteps his remit.

In the first volume, "The Moor Never Keeps Silent" (2020), he has to realise that disused riding halls and barns can also conceal drug kitchens, while "Mondriaan's Last Tree" (2021) is about art forgery, art dealing and fraud.art trafficking and fraud with a cryptocurrency, and the latest volume deals with shadows of the past, which are described with the words "German Autumn", but also touch on Dutch issues ("Flamingo-Gold", 2023).

Together with actor Hermann Fischer, Georg Bühren (former editor at Westdeutscher Rundfunk and responsible for ARD Radio Tatort, among other things) will read from his novels at Fontanekreis Bocholt. In between, he will use interesting finds from his extensive research to illustrate how close some of the details in his crime novels are to the truth. The author between invention and reality, between fiction and truth. A playful search for clues that occasionally makes references to Fontane.
