First construction phase of the new bike park completed

Asphalt bypass at the bike park on Hünting // Interior work to follow in spring 2026

The city of Bocholt has successfully completed the first construction phase of the new bike park at Hünting. The new 400 metre long asphalt bypass is now complete. The inner area will be completed next spring.

Work on the tarmac bypass for the planned bike park at Hünting has been completed. This means that an important part of the new facility has been completed, which can now be used primarily by road cyclists from RC 77 Bocholt. The new bypass is expected to be ready for use by cyclists in the course of January, once the construction site equipment for the first construction phase has been removed.

Now that the outer ring has been tarmaced, further measures will focus on the inside of the facility. The actual bike park elements made of compacted soil are expected to be modelled there from March or April 2026. The earth required for this is already stored on site so that work can begin quickly in the spring.

"With the completion of the asphalt bypass, we have now finally reached a visible milestone that will offer cyclists at Hünting improved training opportunities in the future", says a delighted Björn Volmering, head of the sports department, "We are making a sustainable investment in Bocholt's sporting future and creating a modern facility for various cycling disciplines."

The overall project is being funded by the federal programme "Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture". Of the total costs of around 470,000 euros, around 138,000 euros will be covered by federal funds. With the future possibilities of the bike park, the city of Bocholt is sustainably strengthening the local sports infrastructure and creating optimised training and competition conditions for numerous cycling enthusiasts in the city and the region.
