New "Housing Guide" for Bocholt published

The new "Housing Guide" brings together information and practical advice on living in Bocholt. The brochure supports those looking for accommodation and tenants from the first viewing right through to everyday life in the neighbourhood. It is available online and as a printed copy.

How do I prepare for a flat viewing? What do I need to bear in mind regarding the tenancy agreement and the handover of the flat? The "Housing Guide" addresses these and other questions. Checklists help you to plan each step and keep track of important documents. The leaflet is aimed at people who are looking for a flat in Bocholt, have recently moved here, or have questions about their current housing situation.

""With this guide, we've brought together key information and local points of contact so that people can more easily find answers to their housing-related questions,"" explains Björn Volmering, Head of Social Services and Deputy Mayor, ""especially when facing difficulties with their housing situation, it's important to seek support at an early stage.""

The guide also provides guidance for everyday life after moving in. It contains information on waste separation, ventilation and heating, living in the neighbourhood, and the rights and obligations of tenants.  Another key focus is financial assistance. The leaflet contains information on housing for those receiving basic income support, on housing benefit and on the housing eligibility certificate (WBS). In addition, it outlines advice and support services available in Bocholt. These include help centres for issues relating to rent and housing, financial difficulties, excessive debt or the threat of losing your home. Services addressing discrimination and integration are also included.

The "Housing Guide" is available on the city's website at bocholt.de/mietwohnung, amongst other places. Printed copies are available, for example, at the Citizens' Advice Bureau and the Immigration Office on Neutorplatz, as well as at the Social Services Department in the Shopping Arkaden.
