Bocholt's longest-serving traffic warden says goodbye
Edelgard Kempkes went to the radar in 2019 the "speeding pigeon", which gained worldwide fame
After a total of 26 years in the service of the city of Bocholt, Edelgard Kempkes from Bocholt is now retiring. Her face is familiar to many Bocholters: In more than 20 years of her service, Kempkes has taken care of the stationary traffic. This makes her Bocholt's longest-serving traffic warden. In the course of speed monitoring, she managed to take a very special snapshot in 2019.
At the time, a pigeon was flashed by the radar car in which Kempkes was on duty as a deputy. The speed camera photo with the "speeding pigeon from Bocholt" subsequently went through the media, shot virally through the social networks and gained worldwide circulation.
