City of Bocholt welcomes dedicated charity cyclist Oliver Trelenberg at the historic town hall

Nationwide charity tour covers around 4,850 kilometres through Germany // Stop in Bocholt to support the association "wünschdirwas e. V."

As part of his nationwide charity tour "Oli radelt", the dedicated cyclist Oliver Trelenberg made a stop in Bocholt yesterday, Thursday. Michael Wiesmann, deputy mayor of the city, welcomed the well-travelled athlete at the historic town hall to honour his extraordinary commitment to children and young people with serious and chronic illnesses.

On this year's journey of around 4,850 kilometres, the former cancer patient is collecting donations for the Cologne-based charity "wünschdirwas e. V.".

The passionate cyclist completed the route from yesterday's stop in the Ruhr area to Münsterland on schedule, so that the official reception could take place at the historic town hall at around 4 pm. Since the start of this year's tour last Tuesday, the route has taken the native of Schwert through numerous German cities and communities. A total of 83 stops are on the challenging itinerary for this eleventh edition of the fundraising tour.

Oli Trelenberg's life story is impressive: after difficult personal years and overcoming cancer, he fought his way back into life. Today, he combines sporting challenges with social commitment and supports seriously ill children and young people with his activities.

The city of Bocholt supports the endeavour to draw attention to issues on the margins of society. "The commitment shows in an impressive way how personal strokes of fate can be transformed into positive energy and compassion for fellow human beings", explains Michael Wiesmann, Deputy Mayor of the city of Bocholt, "the visit to Bocholt helps to raise awareness of the important work of the association wünschdirwas, which has been fulfilling the wishes of seriously ill children for over 30 years."

After his stay in Bocholt, Oliver Trelenberg continues his journey on Friday in the direction of Gescher.
