Cycle to Dinxperlo for a " free meal"

ADFC Bocholt-Rhede and EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt cooperate // Three guided cycle tours on 5 May // Cross-border freedom meal in Dinxperlo // Participation free of charge and possible without registration

The ADFC Bocholt-Rhede is offering guided cycle tours to the Freedom Meal in Dinxperlo on 5 May in cooperation with the EUROPE DIRECT office. Participants will cycle together from various starting points to the cross-border meeting in the neighbouring town. The offer is aimed at all interested citizens and combines cross-border dialogue with sporting activity.

For the fourth time, the residents of Dinxperlo and Suderwick are organising the traditional Freedom Meal, which this year will take place on the premises of the Christian community in Dinxperlo. The Bocholt-Rhede chapter of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub (ADFC) is organising three different routes to make the journey there a shared and climate-friendly experience. Participants will be accompanied by certified tour guides who will ensure a moderate pace with an average speed of between 15 and 18 kilometres per hour.

The first tour starts at 16:00 at the TSV car park at Hemdener Weg 163 in Bocholt under the guidance of Martin Schulten and covers a distance of around 32 kilometres. Another group will set off under the leadership of Gerhard Tenhumberg at 4.30 p.m. from the Panoramabrücke bridge at TextilWerk Bocholt, also covering a total distance of around 32 kilometres. For cyclists from the Rhede area, Dieter Guder offers a tour of around 43 kilometres, which starts at 16:00 at the local fire station in Kettelerstraße.

After arriving in Dinxperlo at around 17:30, participants can expect a portion of freedom soup with bread and an accompanying musical programme. There will be an opportunity for German-Dutch dialogue in a festive atmosphere. During the event, the bikes will be guarded by volunteers. Prior registration for the tours is not required and the offer is free of charge for both members and non-members of the ADFC.

Particularly motivated participants also have the opportunity to have the kilometres they cycle credited to their personal account for city cycling in Bocholt. Sonja Wießmeier from EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt is delighted that the ADFC is once again offering the Freedom Meal tours this year. "This way we combine cross-border cooperation with climate protection, as the group travels in a sustainable way." For further information and queries about the organisation, please contact the tour guide Dieter Guder on 0172 2820542.
