Content

The book author and travel photographer Dirk Bleyer will be in Bocholt for the fourth time on 10 November at the invitation of the VHS. This time he is on tour with his wife Aneta Szydlak-Bleyer to present their latest lecture work. The Berliner by choice is one of the most renowned speakers in Germany. Most recently, he fascinated his audience with "ISLAND - Im Rausch der Sinne". This season, the couple premieres "AUSTRALIA - A Year in Freedom" and once again sets new standards in terms of a perfect mix of brilliant images, insightful stories, humorous animations, original sound and music.

A couple with wanderlust

When the two met, it quickly became clear that they share the same passion. For more than 25 years, Aneta Szydlak-Bleyer and Dirk Bleyer have been discovering and photographing the world together. Their photographs have appeared in numerous exhibitions, illustrated books, magazines and photo calendars. As a photojournalist and travel narrator, Dirk Bleyer has been presenting his multivisions for more than 20 years. Meanwhile, he also shares the stage with Aneta, who enriches the shows with her very personal view. Her sensitive multivisions bear the distinction "The Fine Art of Photography" - and that's a good description. They are captivating chronicles of exciting journeys of discovery with the camera. Very personal and yet universal. Powerful images to be remembered.

Adventure Australia

At the beginning of their latest adventure was a dream: to feel true freedom for one year, to travel and stay wherever the wind blows and to get to know the red continent in all its diversity. Aneta and Dirk Bleyer planned and saved for a long time to realise their plan. In the northernmost tip of Australia, the photographers were on the road on adventurous tracks that only a few Australians drive on. They drove over islands made entirely of sand and penetrated deep into the red centre of the outback. The diversity of the Australian landscape left them literally speechless. Landscapes of surreal beauty, such as pink lakes next to azure seas or curiously fluorescent mushrooms and intensely blue glowing waves in the dark of night. Kangaroos on the beach in the south are replaced by crocodiles in the north.

With a lot of humour, they report on their sometimes adventurous undertakings and tell exciting and knowledgeable stories about the country and its people. Everything is crowned with brilliant photography that makes every picture a delight and the whole show extremely entertaining. More information and photos at www.dirk-bleyer.de.
