Information event on voluntary guardianship
The Bocholt Youth Welfare Office is looking for volunteers for guardianships in cooperation with SkF Bocholt e.V.
In cooperation with the Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen (SkF) Bocholt e.V., the youth welfare office of the city of Bocholt is looking for citizens who are willing to take on voluntary guardianship for children and young people. If parents are deprived of custody or underage refugees come to Germany unaccompanied, they need legal representation. An information evening on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, will introduce the tasks and requirements of this voluntary position.
When children grow up without parents, parents are deprived of custody or minors come to Germany alone from other countries, they need legal representatives to look after their interests.
A guardian maintains contact with the child, discusses matters with them and decides on all important issues in their life, including medical care, financial matters and correspondence with the authorities. They liaise with the child's environment, such as the residential group, school or youth welfare office. Volunteer guardians can offer young people opportunities for contact and support that are simply not feasible in professional guardianship programmes due to time constraints. Furthermore, they can remain a trusted and reliable contact person for the young adult even after the guardianship has ended. With their commitment, volunteer guardians give children and young people the best possible chance of a positive development and future.
The information event will take place at 18:00 in the Youth Welfare Office of the City of Bocholt, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 77. All interested citizens are invited to find out about the practice of voluntary guardianship on this evening without obligation.
For organisational reasons, please register in advance by calling Vera Wolf on 02871 953-2333 or sending an email to vera.wolf(at)bocholt(dot)de.
