Crime writer Renate Wirth opens the new season at "Bocholt liest!"

Author from the Lower Rhine brings suspense and regional colour to "Bocholt liest!" with her new book "The Wolfhound" // Tuesday, 24 February, 7:30 pm, City Library (Foyer), advance booking: €9/advance purchase: €10

On Tuesday, 24 February 2026, Renate Wirth will present "er Wolfshund", her latest Lower Rhine crime thriller, bringing suspense and regional colour to Bocholt City Library. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the homepage and at the adult education centre office as well as at the library. A box office will also be set up.

A man is found murdered in his pool in picturesque Krudenburg. For the villagers, the case is clear: the perpetrator must come from the neighbouring extended family, who are looked at askance because of their idiosyncratic lifestyle. However, this is too simple for Chief Inspector Karin Krafft from Wesel's K1, so she sends her team through the tidy neighbourhood. The closer the police look, the more abysses open up.

Exciting cases with a fine sense of humour and a feel for the country and its people

Anyone interested will have the opportunity to meet the author Renate Wirth live on this evening. Together with Thomas Hesse, the author has already written 17 cases centred around the investigator Karin Kraft and her team. With "The Wolfhound", the two have once again succeeded in creating a warm-hearted and exciting cosy thriller that skilfully combines suspense, humour and a fine feel for the country and its people. A must for fans of regional crime thrillers with wit and charm.

Renate Wirth, born in 1957, is a Gestalt therapist, artist and author. She worked in the sociotherapeutic field until 2020.

"With the crime novels by Renate Wirth and Thomas Hesse, I find the direct neighbourhood reference particularly exciting", enthuses Klaudia Kroesen from the city library. "It's a bit like a short trip to the neighbouring town, where you puzzle along with the team of investigators and come across a few surprises."

Registration at the VHS and the city library

The event will take place on 24 February in the Bocholt City Library at 7:30 pm. Admission begins at 7 pm.
