Funding for European Youth Camp 2023

"ERASMUS + Youth" promotes encounters with twin towns // Next youth camp from 16-22 July 2023 // Contact now possible

The European Union's funding programme "ERASMUS + Youth" is supporting the European Youth Camp of the City of Bocholt and the German-French Society Bocholt e.V. with 28,410 euros. This summer, the youth camp is themed "Youth for the future - best practices on climate change in Europe". It will take place from 16 to 22 July 2023 in the Europa-Haus Bocholt. Interested parties can already contact the twinning officer of the city of Bocholt, Petra Taubach.

Young people aged 14 to 17 from Bocholt as well as from the friendly and twin towns are invited. The city of Bocholt and the German-French Society Bocholt e.V. are expecting guests from the twin towns of Aurillac and Arpajon-sur-Cère (France), Bocholt (Belgium), Rossendale (Great Britain), Akmene (Lithuania) and from the neighbouring Netherlands. Young people from the friendly city of Vlora (Albania) will also have the opportunity to participate.

The "European Green Deal" as a guideline

The topic of climate and environment in the context of the "European Green Deal" is on everyone's lips today. Therefore, during the European Youth Camp, young people are to gain an insight into everyday life, the world of work and nature using the example of the European City of Bocholt and the neighbouring Netherlands.

They will exchange ideas on how climate, environment, species protection and sustainability can be an opportunity for European cooperation between twin cities. Various associations and groups as well as Europe Direct Bocholt will accompany them.

European projects and solutions

The European young people are to deal with the common challenges Europe has in the field of climate and environment. They can work out which (cross-border) projects and solutions there could be to overcome them. Excursions and events show different starting points.

Examples from the friendly and twin towns

The young people from the friendly and twin towns are asked to look for a "best practice example" on the topic of climate, environment and sustainability in their home country and present it to the other young people. The focus is on intercultural learning, knowledge transfer and information exchange.

Young people from Bocholt wanted

The youth camp organisers are looking for interested young people from Bocholt aged 14-17 who would like to take part in the European youth camp. Young people with an international family history are especially invited. The city has 10 places to offer - five for girls and five for boys. If there are more applications, the decision will be made by lot.

Interested young people can send their wish to participate by e-mail to Petra Taubach, Partnership Officer of the City of Bocholt, e-mail: petra.taubach(at)bocholt(dot)de.
