VHS lecture sheds light on the heating revolution in your own home

The Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre invites you to an informative lecture on the use of heat pumps at the Media Centre on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. Under the title "Heat pump/heat turnaround - Why act now and not wait and see?", the speaker Michael Birkhan will shed light on the technical and financial aspects of this heating technology from 7 pm. Interested parties will receive practical advice on planning, implementation and subsidies for their own properties.

The transition to climate-friendly heating systems raises specific questions for many homeowners. The Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre is offering this comprehensive information evening to provide expert clarification. The speaker, Michael Birkhan, will explain in detail why the use of heat pumps makes sense, especially in existing buildings. He will take a look at Northern Europe, where this technology has been used successfully and extensively in existing buildings for many years.

During the course of the evening, the different variants of heat pumps will be presented. Particular attention will be paid to the costs involved, current funding opportunities and specific profitability calculations that show when a retrofit is financially viable. Participants will also receive valuable and practical tips for installation in their own homes. Another focus of the presentation is the efficient interaction of heat pumps with photovoltaic systems, electricity storage systems and electric cars, which in combination enable optimum energy utilisation.

Michael Birkhan brings around three decades of experience from the user's perspective to his presentation. He himself operates a climate-friendly air-to-water heat pump in a partially renovated old building and can therefore report first-hand from direct practical experience.

The participation fee for this event is six euros, five euros for those entitled to a concession. Any remaining places will be allocated directly at the box office on the evening of the event.
