On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city, the Münster author Christiane Leesker and the illustrator Kristina Fransbach designed the children's book "Bokeltje is everywhere: 800 years of Bocholt to read, experience and participate". In the colorfully designed book, the green beech sprite experiences various adventures that repeatedly bring him into contact with the history of his hometown. "We are looking forward to a fun and cheerful family reading, to which children are especially invited," says library director Melanie Tenhumberg.

Discovering city history through play

In the book, Bokeltje gets up to a lot of mischief in the city. In eight stories, he experiences various adventures in Bocholt over the past centuries. The young and old readers travel with Bokeltje through time and learn exciting facts about the Bocholt town seal, Israhel van Meckenem, the town hall, the fair and much more. Playful activities and puzzles round off the children's book. The children's book has been available at various advance sales points since February 16, and can be purchased during the reading. Visitors can have their copy signed on site by Christiane Leesker and Kristina Fransbach.

Admission to the reading begins at 10:45 am. The reading is a cooperative event of the municipal library, the adult education center Bocholt Rhede Isselburg and JUNGE UNI in Bocholt. For admission, the 3G rule applies.
