Special exhibition "And they were our neighbours..." now as a virtual 3D tour

The exhibition has been digitised thanks to 360-degree technology // Virtual tour remains permanently available

The exhibition "And they were our neighbours... - Deportation of Jewish men, women and children to Riga 1941/1942" can now be experienced free of charge even after the end of the exhibition period. It will remain permanently available as a virtual 3D tour on the city museum's website.

This moving exhibition project commemorates the fate of Jewish citizens from Bocholt who were deported to the Riga ghetto in 1941. Historical events and the devastating consequences of the National Socialist policy of extermination are highlighted. The art installation "Zwei Tage im Winter - Zachor: erinnere dich!" by Bremen artist couple Dagmar Calais and Chris Steinbrecher will also be shown as part of the exhibition.

The special exhibition was originally presented at LernWerk Bocholt from 10 December 2024 to 27 January 2025. Anyone interested in catching up on or reliving the exhibition project can now visit it free of charge in an online tour.

The virtual exhibition visit encourages an interactive exploration of the project's significant content. Museum director Lisa Resing emphasises the special feature of the 3D tour: "Digitalisation makes it possible to keep the memory of this dark chapter in history alive and make it accessible to a wide audience".

The digital tour is now available on the Bocholt City Museum website.
