World Children's Day: Free activity day for children at Kapu

Hands-on activities and a stage programme on Friday, 18 September, from 3 pm to 6 pm // Marking the start of Intercultural Week

Playing, trying out new things and having fun together: to mark World Children's Day, children and families can look forward to a varied afternoon on Friday 18 September 2026 on the grounds of St Josef Gymnasium (Kapu). From 3 pm to 6 pm, numerous organisations and clubs in Bocholt will be hosting hands-on activities and a colourful programme of stage performances.

Admission and all activities are free of charge. The opening of the event day also marks the start of Intercultural Week in Bocholt, with its wide range of events.

There are plenty of interactive stations for children to enjoy on the grounds. As well as physical and creative activities, the programme includes a bouncy castle, bungee jumping and a wheel of fortune. Children are also the centre of attention on stage: musical performances will be provided by the children from the early music education programme, the "Singing Stars", as well as the JeKits and JeKiss choirs from the music school and the Clemens-Dülmer School. There's also the children's musical by the Bocholt-Isselburg Music School. The Peewees from TuB Bocholt invite everyone to join in with their "Cheerdance" session. The "Jokers" from Kapu will be showing off their acrobatic skills.

Together for strong children

Under this year's motto "Strong Children - Strong Future!", the German Children's Fund and UNICEF Germany are calling for greater focus to be placed on the voices of young people. The Bocholt Action Day also aims to draw attention to children's rights.

The afternoon is being organised jointly by numerous organisations and associations in Bocholt that work on behalf of children. These include, amongst others, the Bocholt family centres and childcare centres, the Child Protection Association, Fabi, the music school, Kapu, the Junge Gemeinschaft, UNICEF, as well as various departments and educational institutions of the City of Bocholt.

As on-site parking is limited, the organising committee asks that you travel by bike where possible. Those arriving by car are asked to use the parking facilities in the surrounding area.
