City of Bocholt offers 100 free energy consultations for homeowners

Fair selection process for high demand without " greyhound principle" // Online application phase starts on 16 March 2026

The city of Bocholt is launching a new advisory initiative and offering one hundred free on-site energy consultations for owners of older residential buildings. The aim is to support households with customised recommendations for energy-efficient renovations and contribute to local climate protection. Interested parties can apply for one of the places from 16 March 2026.

Rising energy prices and the desire for more climate protection are increasingly bringing energy modernisation into focus for many households. In order to provide property owners with targeted support on this complex topic, the city of Bocholt is offering one hundred free impulse consultations as part of a new initiative. The offer is aimed at owners of residential buildings constructed before 2002. The costs of the consultations are covered by the city.

The on-site appointments are carried out by qualified energy consultants based in Bocholt. They take a close look at the building in question and the existing heating technology. Following the assessment, the participants receive a written report. As every house has different energy requirements, a customised analysis is of great importance for the success of energy-saving measures.

"Energy saving does not work according to a standardised pattern. Every building has different requirements - which is why customised advice is particularly important", explains Sascha Terörde from the City of Bocholt's Climate Protection Department. "With the campaign, we want to support citizens in better utilising the energy potential of their buildings", says Terörde. Modernisation not only reduces household energy costs in the long term, but also effectively reduces heating and energy requirements. This makes an important contribution to climate and environmental protection, to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to adapting to the consequences of climate change. The advisory initiative is therefore a further building block in the city's climate concept and municipal heating planning measures.

The administration will be accepting applications for the free advisory service from Monday, 16 March 2026 via the city's website www.bocholt.de/altbausanierung. The first application deadline is 26 March 2026. If interest exceeds the one hundred places available, places will not be allocated according to the date of receipt of applications. Instead, the buildings will first be prioritised according to their year of construction. In the event of equivalent requirements, a lottery procedure will finally decide on participation. If the maximum number of participants is not reached by the deadline, the portal will remain open until the one hundredth application has been received. Appointments for the actual home visits will be made directly by the commissioned experts from 1 May 2026.
